The City of Miami Beach has notified residents that a drive-through COVID-19 test site is expected to be operational in a Mid-Beach municipal parking lot by April 1. The permitting process is underway with MedRite to open the location at 4621 Collins Avenue. In an email today, the City indicated the permitting process includes ensuring “the testing process is organized and executed in accordance with all safety requirements, including Florida Department of Health and CDC guidelines.”
Once open, hours for the proposed test site will be Sunday through Friday from 10 am to 6 pm by appointment only with testing to be conducted from participant vehicles.
“The site will be open to those who complete the pre-screening process by a medical professional, including persons exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms per CDC guidelines, have a travel history to countries affected by COVID-19 or have had recent contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19.”
Commissioner Steven Meiner has led the charge for a test site here since mid-March. As we reported earlier this week, he said he expected the approvals and opening to be within a week.
