Miami Beach's first Inspector General has been on the job for almost six weeks and now he has an office outside of City Hall, a move that reflects the IG's independence.
Voters approved establishing the Office of the Inspector General in November 2018. Functions of the office include “the power to subpoena witnesses, administer oaths, and require production of records, in order to conduct its investigations.” Commissioners have further focused the IG on finding efficiencies in government processes and costs.
Following renovations, Centorino's group is now housed in the Old City Hall Building located at 1130 Washington Avenue on the 6th floor.
How to contact the IG: By email JosephCentorino@miamibeachfl.gov or by phone, 305-673-7510. The City eventually expects to have a hotline set up for the public in the event someone wants to remain anonymous.
