Miami Beach Sanitation Fees Going Up:

Single family residential to increase 9%, multi-family 10%

As expected, the City Commission voted earlier this month to pass along increases in sanitation fees to Miami Beach residents. Following negotiations for a new contract with Progressive Waste Solutions of Florida (d/b/a Waste Connections of Florida), single-family residential trash fees will go from $41.56 per month to $45.33, a 9% increase. Fees for multi-family residences (with nine units or less) will increase from $37.13 per month to $40.90, a 10% uptick.

The cost of waste collection and disposal being charged by Progressive is actually increasing 15% but because the City’s monthly service fee is remaining the same, the net increase is 9% overall for single-family homes and 10% percent for multi-family residences.

The new contract includes a Consumer Price Index (CPI) increase up to a maximum of 3% annually.
