new holiday lighting and decorations debut:

more to come in future as funding available

New holiday lighting and decorations are making their debut across Miami Beach.

After members of the Commission and some local businesses suggested earlier this year that the City needed to up its game in the holiday decoration department, a request for proposals went out. Artistic Holiday Designs, which was awarded a three-year $395,000 contract, installed the lighting and decorations that went live this week. City Manager Jimmy Morales wrote in a Letter to Commission that during this first phase of the contract, lighting will be in place in 20 sites across the City including City Hall, Española Way, Police Headquarters, Lincoln Road, Ocean Drive, and the Julia Tuttle and 87th Street entrances.

Morales wrote that the decorations will be further enhanced and expanded to other areas as funding becomes available in future years.
