Tripadvisor: Miami Beach high on destination searches for summer travel:

More than two thirds of Americans are planning trips this summer

Travel website Tripadvisor says Miami Beach is near the top of the list in searches of destinations by U.S. travelers planning summer vacations. According to the Tripadvisor Consumer Sentiment Survey, more than two-thirds of Americans (67%) are planning to take a trip this summer as travel makes a comeback – and they’re planning on spending more.

Data from the Tripadvisor platform shows that between January 1 and March 26 of this year, Miami Beach was the fifth most searched destination by U.S. travelers for the summer months (between June 1 and August 31, 2021).

In the Consumer Sentiment Survey of 2,500 consumers across six countries, the travel platform said of those traveling, “Millennials are the most excited to get back out there with the vast majority (72%) of the generation planning trips.”

“Americans are done with quiet staycations and hanging out idly in their homes; they’re excited to get out and about” according to Tripadvisor. “Compared to the first week of January, hotel searches are up 65%, searches for experiences (attractions and tours) increased by 78%, and restaurant searches are up 53%.”

Last summer with the tourism and hospitality industry severely impacted by COVID, the most booked experience for Miami Beach travelers was a “City half day tour of Miami by bus with sightseeing cruise,” according to Tripadvisor. This year, TBD!

“Beach destinations continue to shine this summer, with travelers most interested in sunny Florida and Mexico,” Tripadvisor says. Most popular travel weeks are June 21 and June 28.

Over half of travelers surveyed (53%) said they planned to spend more on vacations this summer. “Hottest amenities: Clean hotels, free cancellations, hotels with restaurants.”
