It’s the 20s again… and this year’s Miami Beach Art Deco weekend is celebrating 100 years of Women’s Suffrage with the theme “Sheroes: Women Who Made a Difference.” The weekend, hosted by the Miami Design Preservation League, features more than 85 events including live music, guided walking tours, an antique promenade, a marketplace, classic car show, and lectures. And, this year, a Women’s Suffrage Centennial parade. Of course, there are also special activities for the kids and the annual Arf Deco dog walk. Schedule of events here.
Location: Ocean Drive Between 6th and 13th Streets. (Ocean Drive closes to vehicular traffic for the event.)
Schedule: Friday noon to 10 pm, Saturday 10 am to 10 pm, Sunday 10 am to 8 pm
Of note: There are several guided and self-guided tours as part of the weekend’s activities. One, sponsored by the Flamingo Park Neighborhood Association, provides glimpses inside some of the homes in "one of Miami Beach’s first neighborhoods.” Styles include Vernacular (yeah, we had to look that one up!), Mediterranean, Art Deco, Miami Modern, and Contemporary. This one is self-guided and lasts about 90 minutes. For a schedule of all tours and to purchase tickets, click here.
